Rotary Club of
Brynmawr, Wales
We're presently working with this Rotary group to provide LifeStraw
and LifeStraw Family to the compounds to bring safe water and better health
to the residents.
We sadly acknowledge
the death of
three-year-old
Chanda Siame
on March 22, 2009
from malaria and anemia.
Twila's nephew
was named for her mother.
We honor his memory
by distributing
mosquito nets
to help prevent other children from contracting malaria.
Our plans for decreasing child
malnutrition,
disease and death in Senior & Chipulusu compounds include:
Teaching the making and use of oral rehydration salts (ORS)
using the TALC measure
Distribution of mosquito nets and routinely giving worm medicine
Teaching Aids at Low Cost
Facilitation of home-based businesses
Our Current Focus:
Currently our goal is to provide capital for the 15 women we are working with. Our goal is to give grants of $40 (K200,000) to each woman who has a business plan, to expand her home-based business and to assist her to increase profits to enable the families to eat at least twice a day and eventually, to be able to help with school fees. To donate, go to the Vision of Community Fellowship web site and click on "Hope for Women in Zambia."
Praise God that He has provided the funding for uniforms and school fees for the 31 children under our oversight who are not attending school due to poverty. Their uniforms are being made now, and they will enroll in school as soon as they are ready. We are so thankful to God for providing so generously for them, giving them and their families hope for the future. Come back for further updates!
